I bought a few bits from their 3 for 2 Christmas shop and also bought two books. I knew the pressies were three for two so I asked the assistant whether the til would pick up the third present or a book as the free item so she scanned the presents (£39.50, £15 and £15) and told me the third £15 would be free - great stuff!
Then she scanned the books and said they were also included in the offer and I could pick something else, so I quickly dashed around the shelves but couldn't see anything to get so being a bit strapped for time I went back to the til and said don't worry, just put them through (I can hear MSE's gasping in shock!!) but the assistant (Linda) said no there must be something and walked back over to the shelves with me asking if there were children/pets etc I could get for - I'm afraid I was no help at all! Anyway, eventually we got the Christmas cards - which were also included in the offer and we picked a lovely box of luxury cards (5 for £5 - something I would never buy!) so I got those for free which was fab. She could quite easily have just let me pay for the books and not helped me out - what a lovely lady!
Who said customer service was dead?!

It makes a nice change to hear of someone being so helpful in the shops.
I would make a point of writing to M&S praising the particular person for their customer relations."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

Hi. I work for M&S and they always tell us about any letters written in. The member of staff usually gets a ten pound gift voucher aswell. We always love hearing compliments from customers.0
