Earlier today I got the blue screen of death on my Dell Inspiron lappy, when I rebooted,I kept getting a '?????img unable to boot' (or something like that) error message.
I was able to remove the old SATA drive from an old laptop & format it to replace the one that crashed, although it's wayyyy smaller (17Gig) so it's not the lappy.
Reading online, apparently,Fujitsu SATA drives have this problem,an I read it is possible to recover the data from the drive.
Question is how??
Secondly,I now have the US keyboard where the " is now the @ & visa versa. How can I swap it back?
It's a Dell inspiron.
Thanks in advance.
ps,I did call the number for the helpline that came with the laptop, got thru to India to a bloke who said it was the H/Drive & motherboard..he was talking sho1te!!

You can buy a caddy for £3.12 here and together with the HDD, use it an external HDD. Just because you were unable to boot doesn't mean that the HDD is kaput. Did you run Diagnostics or a Recovery Disc?
Either way, buy the caddy. If it works, back up your data and put the drive back in to the DELL...and then post again.0 -

I tried running the disc with the Fujitsu one but it wouldn't.The lappy's working OK with the drive I got from the old laptop.
The diagnostics gave me an error message & were unable to continue,Eeejit here forgot to writhe it down tho. Thanks for the advise.:D0 -
Have provided a link for a caddy in post #2.
Once in the caddy you can run ChkDsk too.0 -
Start -- > Control Pannel --> Region And Language --> Keyboards & Languages
Then Select from the drop down the UK keyboard and set that as default and delete the US one (you might have to delete the US keyboard twice)0 -
If Windows can not read it from a cady, you can put it back in the machine , burn linux puppy to Cd and run it from the Cd as a boot sector it can find common file types and copy them on to a memory stick, such as jpeg images and document files.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
