    Dear Mr Woolworth

Myself and 12000 close friends tried to purchase a £1500 TV which you had mistakenly advertised for £150. It seems, however, you noticed your mistake and took steps to rectify your mistake and rather than notify us via email, you chose instead to cancel our orders without so much as a tip me hat. I think it's outrageous that you are so carefree with your customers' goodwill, especially as the TVs were ordered in good faith.

I have sought legal guidance on this matter and as soon as my solicitor stops laughing I'm certain he will begin a class action against you forthwith.

    Yours

fantastic letter , assuming you dont mind if I copy and paste it so I can post in the morning :rotfl:

Do what you like i copied it from another forum anyway ;)
  • just had an email from woolies.........

Further to your recent order enquiry, please note the following:

Woolworths endeavours to ensure that all pricing information on its website is accurate. However, on very rare occasions, errors do occur.
Due to an isolated technical problem, a pricing error occurred on a small number of TVs.
The terms and conditions on our website state that where a pricing error occurs, Woolworths may cancel any orders placed. This was an unfortunate but obvious mistake and we are therefore unable to accept any orders at the incorrect pricing.
It is important to note that Woolworths' terms and conditions also make clear that an order acknowledgement communication does not constitute a binding acceptance of a customer order. This will only occur once Woolworths confirms the despatch of goods.
We apologise for any confusion caused.

  • I reckon it was a disgruntled member of the IT dept who decided to mess with the prices on his last day at work. Works a damn sight better than a DOS attack. Why do it yourself when you can get half the population of the UK all logging into the Woolworths website, bringing about the collapse of the servers.

God, today was funny...I knew I wouldn't get my TV, but entertainment like this is priceless. Yep, I know...I'm a sad git.

I look forward to the next thread....
"Woolies took my £150 and now I have to wait 7 weeks for a refund"
  • Apparently once the confirmation has been sent the contract is legally binding:

"A retail law expert told the BBC that in general internet orders were binding on a retailer as soon as confirmation was sent back to the shopper."

And this mistake happended to Kodak where they accepted the order following legal action! They then obviously processed the orders at the lower price :)

It was impossible to get onto their site earlier today for last minute christmas orders!!

Wouldn't want to be the person who made the error, wouldn't want to employ him either, had to shop elsewhere!!!

I wonder how many orders they missed??

I take it the guy who's girlfriend was camped outside the store didn't get his TV. He would have let us know by now.
Actually he'd be busy watching his massive telly.

On the other hand he might have just posted something just as unbeliveable as getting a £1,500 telly off the internet for £150. As if I'd be able to walk in to a Woolies store with a reference number and pick up a massivley mispriced telly. I only posted to see who the real gulible mugs were. I seems about 12,000 of you were gulible enough to order a telly but few of you belived I could get one from a store. Why did you bother ordering one for yourself if you find it so hard to belive that you could get one from a store. Use your nouse guys!!!! :rotfl:

This is a money saving website so how come so many of you ain't got a clue on bargains. If something is too good to be true then steer clear.

    Goodnight moneysavers.
