cheaper alternative to an hpi check

that text check one (can't remember the number) comes back with all that info. I think the proper HPI check though at £14.99 IIRC has a guarantee on that so if they get it wrong you can claim compo. Suppose it depends on the value of the car.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

IPH check. every timeone of the famous 5

If the car is advertised on ebay you can do it through that for £8.99 a go, or 3 for £15 IIRC. The text one is ok, but crucially omits outstanding finance checks.0

Do not use Experian. I have just made that mistake
Their information is outdated and collected from limited sources. As far as I can tell the mileage is only recorded from DVLA when the V5 is changed and ONLY if the seller/ buyer volunteer it. In my experience you would be better going to a drunk in the street and asking them to randomly invent vehicle information. Oh and their guarantee is worthless too. Especially if their website fails as it has done for the last 4 days. They send you an email clearly saying the vehicle is clear but again in my experience I have found since the mileage is inaccurate and they said well not according to our information.
To check the mileage use the free direct.gov links and services for the MOT history0 -

Very good advice0 -
Just remember that HPI won't catch out the vehicles that have been repaired outside of insurance, a practice becoming increasingly common thanks to insurance companies becoming even bigger rip off merchants in recent years.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

HPI wont catch cloned cars.
maybe not but a hpi will give a chassis number which an astute buyer would carefully check on the proposed purchase at the points the manufacturer puts these things ,the hpi will also give a first date of registration, so a look under say an ashtray will usually pull up a build date to confirm approximate date of build (remember most car manufacturers work to just in time principles these days) and of course an mot data check as said could show up advisories not done, that could confirm car is what it is or not
even window glass and tyres have dates
