Help!! Dog just ate a big balloon

Hubby just excelled himself by blowing up one of those big balloons with the elastic on the end and tormenting the dogs with it.
They were going berserk, leaping up all over the place and barking. Jack grabbed and burst the balloon, and promptly swallowed the entire thing, elastic and all!! It's about 6inches of balloon and 4 inches of elastic.
Is it a rush job to the vet, or wait and see if he poops it? He'd just had his meal if that makes any difference.
Men!!!!!!!

I'd ring the vet- they will advise whether to rush him in.

Ohhhh, def the vet - they can give them something to make them sick which is much better than it going the other way.

Rang vet, though they are supposed to be open till 7pm, the vet had gone home!
Looked on internet, one site said induce vomiting with teaspoon of salt on the back of his tongue.
So I put the teaspoon of salt on the poor dog's tongue...the dog shot me a single astonished look then puked his dinner - plus the full balloon!!! - all over the grass in the garden!
So that's better than worrying about him all night, isn't it! Just gonna take him for a walk now to calm his poor nerves then he can have his dinner replaced.
And that's a remedy I'll keep for future reference...!
Thanks everyone.0 -

:j:j:jPhew, really pleased it's "reappeared" - bit much your vet being away, shall we say, "on the sharp side".
Will bear the salt tip in mind just in case!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

It's vets4pets, which I thought was ultra reliable. The receptionist suggested trying other vets in the area but I don't think that's good enough. I might look around for another vet now.
The dog's fine now, thank God. Keeps giving me reproachful looks, but he had another meal to replace the one I made him chuck up so I think he's forgiven me.
And hubby's banned form playing with the balloons with the dogs:)0 -
I'd definitely change your vet.0
