Have a customer who purchased items from us in January, finally got a cheque out of them in May which unfortunately bounced have looked at small claims court but looks quite expensive (amount owed £70.75) any suggestions as to what else I can do would be gratefully appreciated . The cheque was returned marked return to drawer and instructions to find another way of obtaining the money. he is also not answering his phone and is never there when we call round.

Turn up at his premises and ask for it in person?0

Eh? I'd imagine he must be there *sometime*? Or if we're saying he's done a runner, then there's no chance of serving a small claims court notice either :-$0

If he is a farmer then turn up at midnight and wake him up.0

I think it's £25, perhaps £30 to file a summons.
Don't forget you can add that to the amount owed/claimed.
Of course you need to be sure the customer has the means to pay, because if they have no money/assets, you will be thowing good money after bad however you pursue them.
Look at reviewing your credit facility offering arrangements. If in doubt, demand payment in full before goods or services are supplied."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
