With the pain I am experiencing with ever increasing gas prices (scotish energy just upped mine by 60%) plus factor in boiler servicing and the instant warmth from convectors and we must be coming closer to the point where it's cheaper to turn off the boiler and use the immersion/convector heaters?

Anyone done any calculations?

update: I meant scottish power not scottish energy

Coming closer, definitely, but I don't think things are quite there yet...

As a side note, they're still Scottish Power, even if they're supplying gas. Calling them Scottish Energy just leads to confusion about whether you're discussing Scottish Power, Scottish Gas or Scottish Hydro, who are all completely different companies.
I am an employee of British Gas, however the views expressed on this post are mine and do not necessarily reflect the views of Centrica, its subsidiaries or affiliated companies.
