Anyone know any good dealers in SE London that buy used cars from the public?

I want to sell my 2005 Ford Focus but have failed to be able to sell it privately and the websites that guarantee to buy your car are quoting ridiculously low prices (ie too low to make it worth selling). I did approach a local-ish dealer but was told that my car was not suitable 'for requirements' although they didn't say why. I have also looked through a few other car dealer websites and they don't buy from individuals.

Any ideas anyone? I'm in SE20.

Thanks!

Red.

someone will only buy your car if its wanted
remember they will have to sell it to someone else somewhere
stand back from your car and appraise why it wont sell
    think in terms of
    spec
    miles
    colour
    condition
    etc

you then need to either fix the issue or be more realistic in what it is worth

    good luck

There are few reasons why a used car won't sell.

It is knackered and rough as old boots.

The owner is pricing it wrongly.

As a 2005 Focus is a bread and butter car that is easy to sell then you need to give us an idea how much you advertised it for and an idea of the mileage and condition.

Any dealer that you approach will offer bottom book.

2005 Focus could be valued at anywhere from £1500 to £3500 depending on condition specification etc.

While I appreciate the suggestions as to why I was unable to sell my car, that's not actually what I wanted to know. I wanted to know if anyone can suggest any reputable car dealers in the SE London area that buy used cars from the public.

    Thanks.

It's not that I'm missing the point - I understand what you're saying perfectly well - I literally only wanted to know if anyone knew of any used car dealers in the SE London area. I have done a lot of research into the pricing of the car so I know how low I'm prepared to go - I just don't know of anywhere to take it to sell it.

Drive round the local ones and see what they offer you then.

So, do you actually want help or not.

Or is the car that knackered that nobody will buy it off you privately and you want to try and get a garage to buy to off you so they may be able to fix it and sell on.

You are asking for help and appropriate advice has been given.

The only reason the local dealer you have visited wasn't interested in your 2005 Focus is that it is rough as a butchers dog or is a Cat C/D repaired car, these are the only reasons why a dealer wouldn't want a bread and butter car.

As this is the only conclusion I can arrive at given the very limited information you have posted I can only suggest you take it to a scrap yard and they will weigh it in for you, about £150 a ton apparently. Guaranteed sale.

Well where are they? I don't know of any which is what I'm trying to find out. Am I not saying it right?

So you live in SE20 and drive.

But you've never seen or driven past a secondhand car pitch?

Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
