i think they meant agoraphobia... although i didn't see that mention in the OP either. fear of spiders, i wonder if anyone has tried that as a reason not to work before.

But you said you would rather find a part time job rather than go onto JSA so presumably you think you are fit enough to do this.

So if you feel you can work part time, why do you think you need to be on ESA, Im confused.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

if you do end up on JSA you can see a disability employment advisor (DEA). they are v.helpful and talk to you about support with finding and keeping work, reasonable adjustments, etc etc.

Trying to put myself into the mind of the op I'd say this is an issue of stabilising fears and practical management forward of their situation. The ESA regime may be much more suited to them for now as it'll buy them the space of mind to get a working opportunity on their terms if indeed that is something at some point they think they can cope with. Remember day to day the op's life will likely revolve around managing anxieties... events that could happen.. situations that can arise are in themselves debilitating... which is why instinctively my advice is to try to shut down the thinking around those possibilities in favour of thinking about what is definitely going to happen.. the appeal which may solve the issue.

Of course it is worth noting often people are the worst judge of what they're capable of... I spend a lot of time thinking I should be running the country...if I could run a bath it might be a start..lol. And when I have worked it was rare I found someone suited to doing what they were..lol.

You should get a doctor note to say you are unfit for work/training due to your mental health. And arachnophobia.
how would being scared of spiders stop you getting a job ?:rotfl:

I've been on jobseekers plus and its like a carousel with the pointless hoops I had to jump though to get my £53.45. When I'm not working in some pointless charity shop doing all the nasty jobs I have to sit board with druggies and street urchins listening to them talking among themselves about what sentence they got in court or what drugs they're had the night before. Its horrible and its squeezing strength out of me. I'm happy I've been diagnosed with all my elements, ADHD, ASD, BPD eg.........
you could get a job lol , then you wouldnt have to suffer the hell you describe .
and charity shops are not pointless

lol... it certainly was a classic post he made... deserves a medal because it made me laugh.

Mind you... in the last 24 hours I've learned the company that made me redundant and has since suffered serious financial problems has taken on an office poodle... presumably to raise staff morale...and I did once work (in pub) for someone who had the strange ability to have about 8 fags burning away in separate ashtrays and asking 'has anyone seen my fag?'... it's a complex world... there might be more spiders hanging around workstations than employees these days..lol... probably surfing the web.
