Fitting a dishwasher without buying a new kitchen

We are moving to a new property soon which does not currently have a dishwasher in the kitchen. I would love to get one, but it doesn't seem like a good idea if it would trash the otherwise acceptable kitchen...

In general, is it possible to fit a dishwasher in an existing kitchen and for it to look good, without having to re-fit the kitchen or buy a new one? By ripping out a set of units and getting a plumber in for the pipe?

My dad managed it, he just dismantled the area, put in the plumbing and then trimmed up using the wood he'd gained from the no longer required frame at that location. You'd never know he'd done it - looks like it was built that way in the first place.

we managed to fit one in where we took out an old tumble dryer , it was bigger but it looked fine after we'd fitted in around it..

that is encouraging :-) I haven't looked closely at the units yet but there is no space to put the dishwasher without making one.

We did just that when we moved into our current house. I took out a cupboard unit next to the sink and found that there was already pipework in place which was a very pleasant surprise. We then got our local handyman to come in and fit suitable connectors on the pipework and job's done.

Yep, easy peasy. We took a cupboard out and fitted it there, OH did the plumbing, is was very easy. Then we decided we wanted a breakfast bar so lost the teeny tiny built in fridge and freezer, bought a freestanding combo and put a tumble dryer and dishwasher in their place.

  • It’s pretty good questioning that without having to re-fit the kitchen, can it be possible to add a new dishwasher? It is possible but for that you need to get your kitchen checked by plumber, he will be only the person, who can fit the dishwasher.

What have you been snorting up your nostrils? That statement is absolute !!!!!!.

Any decent DIYer, kitchen fitter, tiler, builder, handyman and anyone that has a modicome of knowledge about plumbing will be able to determine whether the kitchen is suitable and anyone can fit it.

What a totally !!!!!! statement to make.

Not a sparky, or don't you worry about Part P if you put a new socket in for it?

Looking at your homepage, either your links wrong, or you aren't doing well if you're spamming to fit a dishwasher.

Standard dishwasher width is 600mm. Find a 600mm kitchen unit close to the sink and remove it then have a plumber fit the connections to the pipes under you sink. Clip the pipes on and shove the dishwasher in. Problem solved, no damage to kitchen. :)
