Interesting days out within reach of London

Hubby has 2wks leave starting today although we aren't going away (very old frail kitty) we want some days out come rain or shine, having lived in London forever we've done most of the things to do here and want some days out within reach of home , we live West London near the A40 10mins from M25 so has anyone some…

Thanks for all the ideas folks... we used to love going to Heathrow with the kids to watch the planes from the old Queens Building but as you say its hard to find a spot to watch from now , when I was young my Dad and I used to park up on the side of the A4 and sit on the grass verge with a clear view of the planes landing and taking off..... and hanging around the airport is not the same as it used to be...
