How much stuff can you fit in a van like this?

lutonvantail-lift-11.jpg

We are moving from a 2 bedroom mid terrace.

If the van is packed right, can you get a fair amount in them?

  • We moved recently from a 2 bed end terrace and hired a similair sized van and we required 3 trips plus 2 car loads, but the trick is to pack things properly to utilise the space

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

I moved house twice using one of those. The secret is to have not much stuff. Like a good MSE'r you should be using this opportunity to declutter and have less stuff. But you've probably done all that. As other posters have said its down to the packing. You really need to use boxes for the non-furniture stuff and the boxes should preferably be all the same size. If you have lots of furniture i.e. 2 beds, wardrobes, drawers, book cases TV's, washing machine, fridge freezer, table, chairs etc then the van is not big enough and will need multiple trips, this is as much a weight issue as a volume issue. What you can also do is get some professional moving companies to quote and then ask what size of vehicle they are using, bit cheeky but why not.

    Hope this helps

aswell as the stuff mentioned above which is bulky the other problem area is if you have a garden/garage, all outdoor stuff tends not reduce in size very easily, most house stuff can go in nice packable boxes. Patio furniture and little tikes cozy coupes don't

Depending on your driving licence just hire a 7.5tonner instead, we managed a 3 bed detached in one of those(admittedly it was bulging at the seams), give you more flexibility on packing at generally not much more cost than a 3.5 tonner

We moved just using our cars (both hatchbacks) except for the washer and freezer which a friend moved in a van, I agree the secret is good packing, my OH swears by banana boxes, strong and stackable. We didn't have any wardrobes as they were all built in at the old house and the suite we had then was dismantlable, I think we would need about 6 40 footers now LOL Good luck with the move.
