Switching from Eon FixOnline 8 to ?????

I'm current on Eon's FixOnline 8, ending 1st July 2011.

I've put my kWh usage for the year into the comparison sites, and these are the best options:-

Eon Saveonline 7 - increase of 22% from current plan
EDF Fixed till 2012 - increase of 31.5% from current plan
EDF Fixed till 2014 - increase of 38.7% from current plan

The Eon Saveonline 7 says that prices will be 6% cheaper than standard till July 2012, so presuming that Eon match Scottish Power and put their prices up by 19%, this plan would go up by 13%, a total of 35% increase from my current plan. This make the fixes look more attractive. I am therefore veering towards the EDF Fixed till 2014, as prices would then only need to rise by another 4% to make this the better option. It's just that a 38.7% increase from what I'm paying currently is a huge hike. Does anyone that any thoughts please?

There are quite a few threads on here worth looking at.

I have been agonising for a few weeks now and have just signed up for EDF v2 9/12 fixed. I can get this with a casback from money supermarket for roughly what SOL7 (variable) would cost. On my figures the fact that EDF use a standing charge makes no real difference.,
On that basis I could take a 25%+ hit in 10/12 and still be ahead of Fix 5.

Also like you I couldn't stomach a near 40% increase to fix for another year.

Don't forget that the SOL7 tariff could quite easily go up by 19% too, it is only linked below the variable rate. It isn't a fixed rate.

    :)

Think it depends what you are comparing with.

    Current EOn Base (EOB) is 26.46 (T1 Elec). FOL8 was at25.46 (5.3%less).

But then FOL8 was discounted by 17% to 20.8 which makes EOB 27% more expensive than this.

Fix 5 is 9% more than base 28.84 which in turn is 39% more than 20.8.

(DDR/Dual fuel discount excluded as the percentage is the same).
