turkey holiday

thinking about going to turkey this year with 2 children aged 14 & 16, realise that will probably have to pay adult price for the 3 of us, going in august( only time I could get off work). Any recommendations please? going to do B&B as my son is a bit of a fussy eater. Have got a brochure from travel agents, all the airport transfers seem to be an hour or more? thankyou.:j

You might find that if you go self catering a lot of the apartments will class them as children. We stayed at the Parkim Ayaz last year HB but spent every day at the Agar apartments where my sister was staying. These were booked through Thomas Cook.

I stayed in the Club Hotel Lion in Kusadasi last year booked through Thomas Cook. It was bed and breakfast and the hotel was lovely.

    price wise, have a look at Justsunshine.com, Holidays4u, jet2holidays.com & Olympic.

You might not get these brochures from the big agents, but most independants will be able to get them for you, and they have some cracking prices.

    Regards

Don't know how you and the family are with the heat, we usually go in August, very hot. Many people struggle with the heat, have you considered you may require air conditioning.

We stay in Hisaronou, about an hours journey from Dalaman, using the tunnel. It's about a 1,000 foot up in the mountains above Olu Deniz and cooler on an evening.

I would not recommend Fetiye very hot and muggy

Money wise we take sterling, haven't found anywhere that will not change it

Don't make the misstake many people make taking euros and then changing into Turkish lira, two lots of commission

Have you been to Turkey before? So many summer tourist areas can differ widely. You can so easily have the most amazing time or dislike it, depending where you end up. Cost of eating out varies a bit from area to area too.

What type of holiday do you prefer and what do you like to do or avoid?

Have been to Turkey for the last few years, always late July early August , YES its Hot!

As for the currency , it can depend on where in Turkey you go. Side and Antalya region , most of the prices are given in the Euro . You may well get a better rate using the T.L but as stated every time you change currency you lose out.

I always go Ai , so only use money for Taxi and drinks , all the larger bars post prices in the Euro . So I take the Euro . Money remaining after the hols is used up in Europe on the odd w/e abroad.

Kids are 14/16 what will they want to do?? you might like the 'ancient ruins/ culture BUT in that heat dragging reluctant teenagers around .............
Don't want to worry you but I booked last November , and did not get my first choice, so get on with it.

Ps don't forget the £10 note for each of you.

Well you are picking a good time , all good hotels will still be operating summer timetables i.e everything should be open.
Not a school time , so prices lower. Which hotel ? ask on trip advisor .

My choice , which I can recommend
