Car Insurance query - address change

I previously lived in Scotland and had my car insurance insured there. I have just moved to N.Ireland and my car insurance just expired. I asked them to send all the correspondance to my new address in N.Ireland but I said my car remained in Scotland (just to cover the last 2 weeks of the insurance  ).
Anyhow they have sent out my renewal quote to my N.Ireland address and it is unbelievably cheap - I imagine its based on the Scotland address. I tried their online quote for the N.Ireland address and it was near double the renewal quote I had sent out (which was addressed to N.Ireland)

So if the quote has been sent to my N.Ireland address will it be based on the car parked there or could it still be based on staying in Scotland, even though it was sent to N.Ireland. I'm scared to query over the phone wih them as they may figure out the mistake and thus me losing out on a few hundred £££ - at the same time I want to make sure my car insurance is valid and based for the correct address.

Comments

  • Will probably be on the Scotland address if your policy ended that way.
  • It should state on the docs what the risk address is.
  • Couple of points - your quote may be lower because of an extra year No Claim Bonus. Double check with them by phone making sure they understand what you are saying. There are a couple of students on here who began the insurance from home, then moved and faced massive hikes. As you can imagine students have little money coming in and this has a huge impact on them. Your situation is the other way round but make sure they have not made a mistake.
