  • Western union is so often linked to fraud on the internet. The website is only registered for a year. I'd say it's a fraud. If the money hasn't been collected yet (you can check online http://www.westernunion.com/) then phone western union ASAP and get the transfer cancelled.

  • If he paid using credit card try and get them involved too.

Sorry, I don't think so - if he'd paid direct with a Visa credit or debit card he'd have some protection, but I believe any credit card to WU is treated as a cash withdrawal.

Just my understanding - to make sure, contact the credit card company.

was this ebay by any chance? there's quite a lot in the community bit if it is on this sort of dodgy dealing.....

    1 thing he could do to smoke out if it's bonafide is;
ask them which shipping company they used and if he can have the tracking no?

if he can track on line then all well and good but i'd still encourage him to read the community bit on it cos he may not be so lucky next time

sometimes its good to leap 1st and enjoy the view on the way over..?
if i live til i'm 100 i'm still here for a good time not a long time in the grand scheme of things of course....:A
EVERY cloud does have a silver lining you just have to look really REALLY hard sometimes..
  • I myself was interested in their offer on tradekey.com and searched around to check out their legitimacy, which got me to this lovely forum. I would never use WU with that amount of money, but was wondering whether there are any safe ways to transfer money. I would usually use a bank transfer, and I have heard about using a "letter of credit" which is supposedly a safer method than that too. Im going to research into these later when i get time, but does anyone have any points theyd like to give me?

I may not deal with goodsky4u as i found it hard to find any pictures on their website of their own stock or premises, except on one page where they show a 15story building as theirs, which I thought of as wierd. Also their prices are quite lower than the competition and I have no clue why they should be so much less. I do have some other selling leads who seem to be a lot more legitimate.

I would be interested to find out how things turn out for your friend brendang, and wish both of you the best of luck in this matter

    Thanks
    Mike
  • I would really, really, really avoid dealing with this company.

Western union on the internet rarely means anything other than fraud, are they using this because it is untracable?

This company gives no physical address - why?

Why do they use free email addresses?

Why are there no google hits other than adverts they have plastered on free advertising sites?

The domain is only registered for a year, would you do that if you were a true business. They claim to have been around since 1999 here.

  • As others have said, Western Union = Fraud.
If they've allegedly been shipped, ask for shipping reference from the courier they have used to ship the goods.

He will, of course, have to pay an enormous amount of import duty/vat on them if they do actually turn up.
