a wireless alarm is a very simple diy job.
if you cannot do it then get a handyman in.
an alarm engineer will charge you a small fortune for a very simple job.Get some gorm.0 -
Loads of decent wireless alarms around now, I bought one from a company called Global Gadgets, one of their defender alarms, it's wireless and GSM too, allows me to arm and disarm via text message which for me is a really handy feature.
They are very easy to fit and as ormus says, a fitter will charge you a small fortune for a job which any basic handyman can do.0 -
I can recommend the infinite prime system. Mine cost about £400 but that included some extra sensors and a GSM module so it will call me when the alarm is activated and I can listen in etc.
Avoid cheap wireless alarms as they do suffer interferance. I've had an infinite prime for about 5 years and never had a single false alarm. They also have good battery life.
Installation is fairly straightforward and they have a good helpline if you need any advice.

£400 seems alot, mine was £190 with GSM built in, same function being able to listen in to surrounding etc, I got 4 of the motion sensors, 4 door sensors, a smoke alarm and a wireless bell box, all for £190!! No interference and not one false alarm, system has been great a cost of fraction of others!0
