Home insurance

Hi

Just put in all my details for buildings insurance rebuild value £70k and it came back at me with quote of £100ish from Lloyds TSB

I went through quidco and they repay £120

that makes me a profit of £20 with free building insurance for the year

(or am i missing something)

don't want to proceed if I'm gonna get clobbered or miss out on quidco

any advice?

thanks

    nice one:T

i have done similar with car insurance twice, making the annual premium next to nothing, but never yet got something insured for a profit, can see how you've done it though, and worth trying. i know my friends home insurance was £75, so the same would have applied to him

That's a great price but ... don't rely on the quidco as there are occasions when it doesn't track and even if they do put a claim in there are some companies that won't pay up or only pay half - see the quidco as a fantastic bonus on the best deal you can get.
Saying that, however the 3 insurance deals I've done through quidco have all tracked. Just make sure you clear your cookies, turn the internet off then on again and then do your insurance straight away through quidco - that gives you the very best chance of it tracking.
    Good luck for free insurance

walsgravematt said he had a rebuild value of £70k ... I think you have got mixed up. If the rebuild is £70k, then the actual cost of the house (rebuild + land cost) will be more like £130k (I'm guessing, depends where you live).

I did my father's home insurance through LloydsTSB (contents, £50,000) and Barclays (buildings, £250,000), went through Quidco (obviously) and the total bill came to £189. He's currently got £245 in his Quidco account, with an estimated payout date of Jan 2007. In effect, he is being paid £56 to insure his home.

Isnt there a lot of feedback, including that from quidco saying lloyds are not often paying out.I went for the safer option of prudential and it tracked very quickly.Think i got £75 off.

I tried Liverpool Victoria and got a quote of £577 for the cover stated in your post webuserisme. Which is 250 more than my renewal from Halifax. HMMM!
