Wireframe, a colourful choice of words, but yes he is a knob, however he is My knob (not in that way).
The dealer stated that it was irlevent what the sales staff said. Gary signed and it was for him to read the terms.Keep smiling, G.0 -

Had this kinda thing happen to me a couple of years ago, bought a £7000 car on HP from a dealer and within 8 hrs it had broken down, left the car where it was, returned to the dealer handed them the keys and told them i was rejecting the car as it was unfit for it's purpose.
I sent recorded letters to both dealership and finance company stating reason why.
They told me I couldn't do this as i had signed the agreement on the trade premises, luckily my sister informed me this is not always the case (she's a trading standards officer) and i was also not obliged to accept a repair.
Outcome was they took the car back, cancelled my credit agreement and returned my deposit (eventually).
Communicate everything in writing and call your local trading standards and request their help.0 -
Apologies, no offence meant, but yes, unfit for purpose, everything in writing, and away you go. To Nissan.0

When i brought my car on Hp from vauxhall i had a call from my hp company a few days later asking me if everything was ok with the car and they informed me that i could cancel the arangement or change the car if i was not happy within 14 days. If i was you i would be sending a copy of your letter to ford head office to inform them of the cars they are selling. No dealer should ever let a car go out like that. you could understand it from a little garage but not from a main dealer.Filiss0

If the Ford mechanic said it wasn't roadworthy then it is not fit for it's purpose.
Send a letter to both the dealer and finance company rejecting the vehicle by recorded delivery. State that you want your deposit, part exchange vehicle returned within 14 days or you will report them to Trading Standards and commence legal action to recover your money without further correspondence.
You may want to report them to Trading Standards anyway, if so cc them in on the letter sent to dealer and finance company.I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.0 -
Hi all. So I went to the Ford Dealership manager who was very helpful. He is trying to cancel the HP agreement at a charge of £225 which I think is reasonable.
Watch this space!.Keep smiling, G.0 -
I think you have been done up like a kipper.
The HP company won't even have had time to issue the funds yet so the ''charge'' will probably end up in the salesman's pocket!0 -
Why do you think it's reasonable to be charged £225 to return faulty goods?
The manager was helpful because he knows you have every right to return the car!
Tell them you will contact the finance company and cancel the agreement, and save yourself £225.0
