Hi,
I need to find a good conveyancer, anyone have any recommendations?
Ive had some quotes locally & they are all about 1k more than some of the online quotes.
I know some on here say go on advice from Friends etc but I really need to do this a cheap as I can do to house price drop & lower mortgage offer.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

1k sounds about right- remember that many prices advertised will not include all the extra things and VAT. I haven't had the exact figures from our solicitors yet but I am expecting it to be in the region of £1200 which is cheaper than some others (whether it is good or not remains to be seen!)0

You need to be careful comparing quotes. There are many 'extras' that some conveyancers include as standard and others will add to your apparantly cheap bill!
Read this.
Also consider whether it matters to you to be able to pop in a sign a document/discuss a problem, or whether you are happy talking to a call centre and waiting for the post.0 -
We have used Premier Property Lawyers twice now, efficient service, based on telephone, internet and post. Good price too.:hello:0

avoid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My posts are just my opinions and are not offered as legal advice - though I consider them darn fine opinions none the less.:cool2:
My bad spelling...well I rush type these opinions on my own time, so sorry, but they are free.:o0 -
But bear in mind that the negaitive comment above is biased - a local solicitor is hardly likely to want to recommend a competitor who undercuts on price.0

Any conveyancer can reduce their price, and with it service drops, obviously. That is unnacceptable. Home movers deserve for their fee an allocated conveyancing solicitor, legal executive or 25year plus lawyer, Lexcel accreditation, and personal email and telephone number access direct to their lawyer. Anything less is a sacrifice and not value for money.
I am simply sorry for those people who get ripped off and post on here - but people refuse to come on this website and simply search 'cheap conveyancing'. If they did, then they'd spend a little extra to get quality. My posts are just my opinions and are not offered as legal advice - though I consider them darn fine opinions none the less.:cool2:

There is one called Browns which has a number of branches around the Home Counties. They work by email and post but you can go into the branches if you need to. They are pretty cheap and you certainly wont get treated like a king but they do answer the phone when you call, I found them straight talking and they ring you back when they say they will.
Most people think they're ok, theyre not dodgy anyway. Stuff gets turned around pretty fast.
My first purchase fell through so I paid nothing as they promised. Deciding I wanted much more handholding the second time I paid about twice as much for a local firm and was assigned the head conveyancer; a woman who was perpetually too busy to talk to me, never once answered her phone and rarely rang me back unless I nagged her secretary. If she did call back she would ring precisely 4 times and if you didnt get to the phone in time that was you out of luck as she would be back on voicemail for the rest of the day.
I got the impression she didnt give a monkeys either, which she didnt. So paying more isnt always better.
Edit: I would really recommend someone with a physical branch as well. I personally didnt want to send tens of thousands of pounds of my deposit money off to a website.0 -

We've just gone ith fidler and pepper. We used them 6 yrs ago for our 1st purchase and was good service so am hoping nothings changed since! ( i did notice my fidler and pepper quote was over £200 cheaper when booking via their https://www.legalmove.com website rather than directly on their idler and pepper website!)0
