I entered my post code and the kWh we used last year to discover they're about £80 more a year than our current tariff (this is excluding points we'd earn). That's actually very reasonable as we got a good deal with a price fix about eight months ago.
It must depend on several factors like location and how much you use, but it looks like it could be a good deal for some people.
I agree with the other comments about price tiers rather than standing charges. You basically pay to be connected to the gas pipes and electric wires one way or another. While described as units per day they're really added up at the end of the quarter (there's no way to tell what days they were used), so unless you use exceptionally small amounts of gas/electric over extended periods of time (for example the house is empty), you'll easily run over tier one units every quarter and end up paying the full tier one prices anyway. For all but special circumstances there's no real savings to be made through either system. When comparing suppliers I just work out the difference between cheaper tier two and tier one prices then multiply it by the number of tier one units to figure out what the actual cost is and compare it to other supplier's standing charges.0 -
I am on EDF Energy Assist, the social tariff duel fuel. I don't believe the social tariffs are as cheap as the online tariffs....
I did a comparison on two different sites for duel fuel.......if I change my gas to Co Op, it was working out to be 10 pounds per year extra. So, I changed my gas to Co Op and electricity to Ebico.
If I find it works out more expensive, then I can change.Today, my BEST is good enough.0
