How does 1 go about getting a thread locked or deleted, its this thread, its just got a bit silly now as pretty much all of page 14 is full of what i presume are alter egos just posting random rubbish unrelated to the thread. I really suggest its locked and the members who are spouting total carp are banned.

I've got no idea what is going on - I have reported it, and several others have said they have also - but it's still there. Quite bizarre.Gone ... or have I?0

Have just had a look - there are some posts missing, and one of the AE's has been banned, but remains in his other guise. Does that mean that those who are offensive under an AE are allowed to remain under their main username? Defeats the object of a ban really ...Gone ... or have I?0

Apparently even Martin Lewis himself is powerless to do anything about it.

does'nt help that people keep replying to that threadEx forum ambassador

but if no-one replied they would maybe get bored and it would just get spam buttoned like normal
I learnt that lesson myself , no longer reply to the threads as it just provoked them into more posts
if the regular responders had the common sense to leave them to it maybe that would helpEx forum ambassador

Given that even without participation from these 'regular responders' the threads just drag on and on with the person in question responding to themselves with half a dozen different usernames, spewing out the kind of extremely offensive bile that you yourself were a target for not so long ago, perhaps a more robust approach than 'close your eyes and hopefully they'll go away' is required by board guides and administrators?:cool:0 -
Board Guides cannot "moderate"
we can only remove spam etc, if you read the FAQ's it explains what we can and cannot do
The forumteam may or may not be doing something I have no idea , the forum was subject to a sustained DOS attack that took it off air for a few days a few years ago . It took time but something was done in the end
my last post on this thread as I've said my piece
you will need to wait for a possible reply from a forumteam repEx forum ambassador

So when a BG locks a thread for it becoming abusive or going off topic they are acting outside their remit?Gone ... or have I?0 -

Is this level of abuse in some way acceptable night after night in your opinion then? Is your only response to say 'maybe it will go away'?
I haven't asked you to 'moderate' or take drastic action, but board guides do have the power to lock threads and do so on a regular basis for much less than we've seen on the thread being discussed.
You encourage me to read the board rules to better understand the role of a board guide but do those very same rules not say this:When banned former users do re-register or otherwise disrupt the Forum, this can cause severe distress to other users. Dealing with unwanted former forum users' posts distracts the team from the core purpose of the site and takes up time. Therefore in such circumstances we may:- Report offenders to their ISP
- Charge offenders for the administrative costs of identifying and removing their posts at the rate of £40 per hour, plus any external costs that we incur.
- Take legal action to recover these costs.
- Report offenders to the authorities if their actions appear to amount to a breach of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 or any other relevant criminal legislation.
