OMG! You must have such a lovely quiet house. :p

Big dog pants all the time unless she's sleeping (then she snores); eating (chomping noises); drinking (slurp-slurp) about the only time she's not making a noise is if she stops to sniff something!

I'd love a quiet house, when Buddy charges around upstairs like a herd of elephants i wonder why the ceiling hasnt caved in. Just wondered whether or not its something to be concerned with, he's never panted after exercise even as a puppy.

(Buddy is a lab x setter)

If it's how he's always been - wouldn't worry about it. If it still bothers you the next time you go to the vets for a check-up or whatever, mention it to them. I wouldn't make an appointment just for it though.

If he suddenly started panting all the time, then yes that would be a cause for concern as it's a sudden change.

If big dog stops panting and isn't doing any of the other noises - I usually end up prodding her to check she's not popped her clogs :D She's a 14 year old boxer / rottweiller cross

Im not too worried, it just that Buddy has various problems at the moment and looking at the present picture we (me & vets) arent getting anywhere. I though that looking at a larger picture may help find what the egit has wrong with him.

I have 2 black labs, the oldest one always pants after running around and playing, the youngest i very very rarely see her panting unless she has been playing ALL day without a nap :)

We have on-going problems with his diabetes. At present he has been losing unexplained weight, he has had x-rays, ultrasound, full blood count and haemotolgy test done. He does have a slightly enlarged heart (1 score over), but my vet doesnt feel that that is connected. He did have somogyi effect happen with his glucose levels and we are pretty much on top of that now. I done a 3 day glucose curve this week that gave the vet a bigger picture of whats going on with him. Just waiting for a phone call from the vet who is contacting Langfords vet college to ask their opinion.

Im not to concerned with the lack of panting after exercise.
