Ford say 100,000 miles or 10 years... How ever, I ALWAYS half it, because the cost of a cambelt, tensioner and water pump (if applicable) is about 10% of the cost of an engine rebuild!

Never, ever leave a cambelt change to 100K miles.
All cambelts on all cars should be changed every three years or 36K miles at the max.

So you would change a cam belt on a car which was 3 years old with FSH and had done 20k miles ?

If it was a car with a plastic tensioner (90s Vauxhall, some Renaults, some Fiats, some VWs and some Daewoos) you bet your life I would.

Plenty of cases online of people with low-mileage cars whose cambelts have snapped.

I would, its worth it, these engines can easily cover 200,000 , they are from the day when diesels were built to be work horses and not trying to emulate petrol cars.
