complain about private caravan hire?

Hi, can anyone advise about reporting a private caravan owner for renting an unfit caravan please?
I paid a £50 damage deposit in with my £250 rental price to a private owner on a caravan site.
When i got there the microwave had been on fire and in a dangerous state, there were no cooking utensils, i had to hire a microwave and buy basic tools for the caravan. It was in a filthy state as well i couldnt use the oven or grill. On the day we left id been told we could leave by 330pm and the owners daughter would meet us to check the caravan over and give the £50 eposit back, however at 1130am a man turned up wanting the keys!! i was given an hour to get out and he didnt have the deposit.
After 2 hours of sitting in my car with kids and luggage the man hadnt come back for the keys so i left them with the site office and went to feed my children. now the owner is refusing to give my deposit back her reason being that i shouldnt have handed the keys in. Any ideas please really appreciated.

complain about private caravan hire?

I think the private bit will be the problem, nothing to stop any old rascal renting out any old shed. By all means take them to court if you have an address for them and you think they will respond to it :-)
