The Dental Clinic in Birmingham

I pay £12.50 per month for a dental plan with The Dental Clinic, a small chain of private practices linked with Optical Express.
I have received a 'phone call today from a girl at The Dental Clinic in Birmingham.
She was ringing to confirm that I received my letter from Head Office that the clinic has been closed down.
I had appointments booked for the 25th June - they have obviously been cancelled.
Um. No.
I had not received my letter from Head Office and, having checked, there's nothing on the website either.
In fact, the the website is still offering bookings at the Central Birmingham clinic.
I've just got off the 'phone to Head Office and spoken to a clueless Scottish girl, who after confirming that the Birmingham Clinic was indeed closing down, didn't realise that the people with DDs hadn't been sent anything in writing, didn't know the closest clinic to me and didn't know when the website would be updated.
My nearest Clinic now is in Shrewsbury.
I've got nothing against Shrewsbury, it's a beautiful place, it's just a long way to go from Wolverhampton for a scale and polish.
On top of all the other hassles in my life, I've now got to sort out a new dentist. :search:
In previous conversations, I've been told that that there are approximately 2000 patients for the Birmingham Clinic.
2000 x £12.50 = £25000 pcm
How much money does a business have to bring in to be commercially viable!!??

Dentistry is hideously expensive to run. These practices were originally run by Boots who pulled out when they couldn't make a profit and optical express bought a few of their clinics.
The problem is with increasing regulation it has become more and more difficult to run a practice in profit and recently many high profile dentists have gone bust.
One room in a surgery will cost £150 to £200 an hour to run.
I would ask recommendations from friends etc for a local "family" dentist rather than travelling to stick with a chain.0 -
It's a bit of a shame you didn't get the letter. My previous dentist was based at one of their branches near me and I got a letter a couple of months ago informing me what was happening. They are sending out letters here at least.
My dentist and hygienist have both moved to another practice in the same town - had my first appointment at their new address today, in fact.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
I've just received a letter telling me the Shrewsbury Dental Clinic is closing down. Good grief........:( Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0

The people from the dental clinic have moved to another practice in the center of Shrewsbury. Strangley enough its called " The Aesthetic and Dental Clinic" they've probably just rebranded the company to do Botox instead of glasses..lol0
