MSE Tip - Coffee as woodstain - Works a treat

If I'm not at work & not working on the house, I'm researching. Read this tip somewhere - given it a go - IT WORKS! Forgot where I got this tip now, could have been this website (if so, sorry), but feel it deserves to be recognised. (Thanks to whoever gave me the tip)

Trying to match up some pine in one room with rest of house that is Hemlock. Tried various products and the best match is COFFEE. I do not jest!! I've tried filter coffee - useless, antique varnishes, but the BEST is Good old, cheap instant cold coffee - brush on wood - comes up a treat after several coats.

Sorry, just wanted to make sure other folk see this tip.

Another good one for making new pine furniture look aged is put some rusty nails in a small bottle of vinegar and leave them a couple of months. Then use it like a stain, allow to dry completely and then wax..........Ok so your lounge smells like a chip shop for a day or two but is that a bad thing?...Seriously though it does work........ Personally I can't stand pine furniture......:D
