I bought a hoody from Sports Direct.
It was washed inside out on a 30 degree wash as the stated on the label. However the dye from the logo on the front has run.
I took it back to Sports Direct and was told that as I didnt have the receipt there was nothing they could do? I didnt even think to keep the receipt as I obviously didn't expect to have to return it. The Sales Assistant was very hostile and defensive. As I was late for an appointment I didn't have time to argue.
Are they within their rights? I'm also quite annoyed at the way I was spoken to.
Any advice would be appreciated - thanks

Did you pay by card? A CC or bank statement can be used for faulty goods. If you paid cash you are at their mercy, sports direct are difficult to say the least when it comes to returns.0

How do they know you bought it from them and are not just trying it on, yes they are within their rights to refuse until you can prove you purchased it from them.
As above if you paid by card then take a bank statement in and it should be enough for POP.
However if you paid by cash then lesson learned I'm afraid. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

Sports Direct can track any transaction made in their stores. If you know the time, date and location you made the purchase, they should be able to trace it.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
