broken skart socket

hi everyone

hope you can help me with this! The scart socket on the back of my television has broken and i can no longer use my dvd player with it. Does anyone know if there is a wire that i can plug from the dvd to the arial port in the tv? i have looked around but can't seem to find anything and I cannot afford to buy a new tv just because of the scart.

NTL boxes(and all DVD recorders) used to have a standard aerial output socket that would go into the aerial socket on the tv with a bog standard cable

connect the NTL box to the DVD rec by scart then the DVD recorder to the TV with an aerial cable if needed
  • in what way is the scart socket broken?
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • What other connections do your TV and boxes have? I think most aERIAL outs on the back of boxes nowadays are simply pass throughs for TV aerials which will not output the picture created by the box itself.

sorry it's just a dvd player i am trying to connect to a tv but my dvd player doesn't have a aerial socket so i cannot do this. i might just buy a new dvd as it will be cheaper than a tv!

i'm not sure! i plugged the scart lead into the back but didn't get any picture. i thought it was just the lead at first so i brought another one but still nothing
  • Is this a new dvd player, did it ever work? Have you changed channels on the remote? Does the TV have only one scart socket?

oh well, thanks for trying. i just thought that there would be a wire somewhere with a scart conection at one end and arial connection at the other but it look like there isn't.
  • Was hoping to help you fix the existing problem..(check that the pins in the scart connector on the TV are all in - if you take the cover off, make sure it's unplugged from mains, and left for an hour - keep well away from the electronic and tube, just look at the back panel), and make sure you have the correct channel selection.

but if you really want one..
