missing keys symbels in windows

i have just built a computer and everything works ok apart from the @#~ keys are not working all i get is ' i have transfered my keyboard to my original computer which i am using now and it works ok i have even bought a new keyboard, still not working i am running windows xp service pack 3 ,office 2007 and internet explorer 7 can anyone suggest an answer?

have you set the keyboard to uk in control panel, regional, languages, details?

or @ = shift 2 , # = shift 3, and ~ = shift plus the key left of 1 (memory fails me on that one , using my netty at the mo)

Mind you open notepad and press and see which key produces what .....simples follow closed's advice

i reckon when you installed xp you let it run in the american keyboard settings
