hotpoint wd440g not draining

HI

Hope i have posted this in the right place.

I really need some help. My washing machine wont drain the water, its stuck with most of my little ones clothes in it.

I know absoloutely nothing about washing machines but i have tried googling and i may be wrong but i think i need to clean the filter possibly after draining it??? i understand that on most washing machines there is a panel at the front where u can access the filter however on this machine there is nothing but a red thing i dont even know how to describe it with a hand crossed out i could be wrong but i think this means dont open it i am very tempted but havent so far!!!!

my questions are how do i drain the machine and how do i clean the filter and where the hell is it???

    first ..if the rinse hold button is pressed in ..then that is the problem
    .

    if not ...

    Take the drain hose out of the standpipe.......then you lay it down lower than the washing machine window level ..the water will drain out...so either direct it to a door....move your washer near the door first, Probably means disconnecting the supply hoses ...and let it drain outside....or drain it into a shallow tray ....when the tray is full hold hose up above the level in the machine ..and the water will stop coming out......empty tray....carry on with each tray full, until its empty..

    after when empty...if you then set the dial to a no program position and switch the machine on ..you may then open the door


    if the door does not open after this...you may have to undo two screws that hold the top on ...and there is usually an emergency door pull ..that is a tielock sticking up.
