Is it right that there is a time limit on claiming?

Hi all,

I keep seeing this advert on TV that says contact them to claim PPI before your time runs out.

Is that right? Do I have to claim before a certain time?

Hope you are all well.

Lorraine:)

There is no time bar on complaints and no hint of any time bar coming in. .

However, firms can destroy your records once you no longer have the borrowing with them. Typically this is around 6 years after (some appear to be using 6 years from commencement if the debt has been repaid). So, whilst that is not a time bar, it could effectively end a potential complaint before its even started.

FSA's DISP rules says 6 years after sale and 3 years after knowing of a problem.
DISP rules came in Jan 05.
