Range cookers

I have my heart set on a Range Cooker, but not sure we can afford a £2000 model.

Are there any good cheap models available? Is flavel any good...that seems to be the cheapest one on most websites.

Or can I trust a comet clearance store for this? They had one for £400 but it was snapped up before we could go back to the store.

We live in London and are there any clearance stores around London / Surrey ?

I can't understand why many people would want one such cooker other than the look, pain in the !!!! to keep bending down to open the oven door, take up loads of space, use lots of power, get on you kneees to look at things under the grill.

far better to get a decent hob, sperate oven at a sensible height. If either breaks or goes wrong cheaper to replace also.

Of course if money is not a problem buy a modern aga, plus employ a cook.

That's what I did, although I married the cook.

It replaced a hob and a separate high level oven that you advocate. I have to say that I much prefer the range.

But that is still twice more than you would with a built in oven.

As I said, I am listening to my heart and not particularly my head! So I fancy the range as I have never had one!:)

Are there are any clearance places to get these from?

Do you mind a second hand one? I have seen some go for a song on ebay :) I love my range cooker, especially when doing a big cook off weekend!

You could try this link to Comet clearance auctions:-

    http://www.clearance-comet.co.uk/kitchen-home/range-cookers.html

We've bid and won items in the past and have been very happy but you will have to budget for their delivery charges and watch out for bids coming in very very late!

I have been looking at the comet ones, but they invariably go for more than I want to pay for. Ebay - that seems to be a good option.
