Scottish Power - Switch again or wait and see???

:( 10 days ago I used USwitch's services, switching from EDF to.....you guessed it - Scottish Power! :(

I havent fully switched yet but am passed the 7w/days cooling period.

So, the question is..... Do I switch again to a fixed tariff (and pay the penalty to exit, before I have 'entered') or wait and see what the bills are going to be.

I am very upset by this as like everybody else I use USwitch to save money because I dont have any spare for previous tariff let alone the increases.

I have jumped from the frying pan into the fire and am afraid of getting burned even more!!

Any helpful advice would be most appreciated!

You get 7 working days to cancel, Edf cannot cancel it now. You will move across, but if you apply to edf now, you will move back after a couple of weeks on SP's supply.

If you switched for Online energy saver 14 with SP, that tariff is not affected by the increases :)

Tell me, what was it that led you to choose a variable rate tariff when, at the first sight of price change, you appear to panic?

Perhaps a nice fixed rate would suit you best? (but as you probably know, you may have to pay today for the comfort of such a deal)

I've been with scotish power for around 6 years, never had a problem and they have always been the most competitive. Everytime some other gas or electicity supplier called and you told them you are with scotish power, they did'nt try and convert you. That could now change but I suspect the other companies will increase their tariffs also.

Sounds like you got very poor sales people if they gave up as soon as you mentioned you were with SP.

SP may or may not have been the cheapest for you over the last 6 years, but without knowing the exact tariff and usage (and region, but the sales person probably did know that) then there was no way SP was definitely cheaper. If SP were uniformally cheaper we would all be with them, but there was a mass exodus to EDF (as an example) a few months back when they were offering £100 hello bonus (plus any usual cashback deals)
There is no one supplier that is cheaper for all.

A good salesperson would try and sell you a product even it it wasn't the cheapest for you. You appear to have got off very lightly indeed.
