For about 2-3 years now we have had this reserve fee with Barclays where you can have an extra £250 for 5 days. We have checked on numerous occasions with barclays and they assure us you can use the £250 level for up to 5 days without being charged for it as long as its paid back within those days.
However, and I wouldnt mind if if it was an occasional problem, we seem to be getting charged £22 for going into the reserve for probably 1 day a month before wages come through and normally only by maybe £10. It seems to happen literally every month, they say mistakes happen but this mistake happens everytime. They refund the £22 each time to be fair (not always in a polite way though) but this often takes '5 days' that is 5 days after it has been processed which gets delayed often too. So barclays have £22 earning interest for at least 7-10 days from 1 customer and i'm sure thousands of others too, they must make a good bit of money!!
OK, Maybe we should keep budgets tighter but at the moment this isnt possible and the reserve is only used very little once a month. So My arguement is we pay the £7 account fee for this priviledge yet every month they dont seem to honour this, we then have to waste time phoning up and then more time waiting for the refund, should we be looking to reclaim the £7 account for for the past 2-3 years? They dont seem to be bothered about rectifying the charges at all.

Which account have you got?
As far as I am aware the use of the Reserve is charged at £22 on all types of accounts.

If you only go over by about £10 for one day a month surely it doesn't take much to ensure it doesn't happen however tight your budget.?
If not have you asked for an increase to your overdraft limit?0 -

You can opt out of the reserve facility im sure which will lead you to manage your account better surely and not incur any nasty fees for using money which isnt yours, I hope they stop refunding the fees and you take ownership of your financial matters yourself.0
