Vent - Groupon

Hi everyone,
I'm a complete newbie so bare with me! I need to vent and unfortunately you guys are it!
I bought a deal on Groupon online on 31st May for a balloon ride for two for my father-in-law's retirement present. For £139, I thought it was a bargain! When trying to pay through paypal, I encountered an error stating my order hasn't gone through, after the 6th try I had finally purchased the deal.
I received a letter from my bank on Monday saying I was over my £100 overdraft and they had stopped two paypals to paypal. When I checked my bank I seen I had 4 payments of £139 taken from my account and my paypal account was overdrawn by £278!
I spoke to Paypal to ask what they were playing at and they said they got the instruction from Groupon. I then phoned Groupon on and had to listen to some terrible hold music for 20 minutes, after I spoke to someone there they confirmed that they could see that 5 were taken in error and it was an internal system error. I was asked to send evidence of the payments (screen print of my bank account, paypal account, invoice and transaction ids) to the support team and they would look into it. When I asked the guy who long does he think it would take to get a refund, he said he thinks it could take a week or longer.
ONE WHOLE WEEK. I am £695 out of pocket and I will have to wait a week and more to get that money back. That is never right! I dunno who to contact or what I can do as I could really do without being in my overdraft, which I get charged daily for being in. I don't have £695 spare and I can't pay my bills.
Thanks so much Groupon <insert swear word here>
Anyone any advice?

That's the next room?

If it's an internal error on Groupon's part, can you ask them to reimburse you the overdraft charges as a goodwill gesture?0

I hope so. They have to "look into my case" and I can only send them an email and hope they do something with it.
Frustrating.0 -

always be wary of repeat payments through Paypal
I have had this error before
I just leave it 10 minutes and then check my PP acount to see if a payment has gone through0 -

Try to get Groupon or Paypal, whoever is at fault to reimburse you. In the meantime, could you speak with your banker about canceling the charges?0 -

Just what i was gonna say.
There is barely a day goes by when i have don't have an error while checking out somewhere.
I always check it as not gone through before repeating it.
In this case, a quick check of your email, paypal OR groupon account would have shown the transaction had gone through.
So not sure where you stand - as this was probably not a case of them accidentally taking it all these times - you actually kept re-doing it.
Keep on at both for a refund of the unwanted items and bank charges - and the bank aswell for the charges.
Groupon are very difficult to get refunds from.0
