Hiya
I am on a committee and have been given the task to organise a charity quiz night to organise funds for a new charity funded pre-school. We have a venue and a quiz master and a date for it. What else do I need to do in order to raise loads of money. Your help as ever would be appreciated. Many thanks

I suppose raffle tickets and or auction, for example football/shirt autographed by local football team.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

How about a few booby prizes for losers? Not money spinning but it makes people remember the evening. Think of a few funny prizes. We ran a race night and had a straw hat with donkey derby on, a carrot on a stick, tin of dog food (yes, I know sick
)
We always play heads and tails which 99.9% of people join in with.....Everyone puts £1 on the table/basket/collected in and they then stand up. Everyone has to put their hands on their tailsor their head....i.e. two hands on head, one hand on bum and one hand on head, two hands on bum. Then if you have the same as the coins the caller has flipped you remain standing..if not you sit down. You keep doing this till you get a winner. Its so simple but fun too.
I'd second have a raffle...and also an auction.
If you don't have enough items donated for an auction, how about a "labour" auction where people donate their time. In the play group their must be lots of people with handy occupations or talents.
eg. Wash a car
Cook roast dinner for four
Bake a birthday cake
Service a boiler (only tradesman)
Portrait photo (talented hobby)
3 hours time of an accountant
A childrens party organised for 6
To splat a teacher with a sponge/pie
One days help with spring cleaning
Two bin bags of ironing
1/2 days help from a painter/decorator
Cut, wash and blow dry
Hire of a prom dress
Days gardening
Packed lunches made up for a week
Windows cleaned
Home made cake on a sunday for the next four weeks etc. etc.
Could you rally round a few people to supply food and charge more for your tickets with food included?0 -
Have you considered exactly how the quiz will work?
Will you ask all the questions, collect the answers and then mark them? Or will you do rounds e.g. ask the questions for Round 1, collect them and then get someone to mark them during Round 2?
Who will mark them? Will the groups swap answers and mark eachothers? Will you mark them all? Or will you have a band of "markers"?
For me, one of the most tedious things about a quiz night is the marking - either doing it or waiting for others to do it. If you can get this bit right, it will help the night go smoothly.
My suggestion is that you have a band of markers. Collect the answers as you go along and get the markers started as soon as possible. If there's a backlog at the end, have a few bonus questions, where the answer is shouted out and award instant novelty prizes. Or draw the raffle at this point. This gives the markers time to finish off marking the main quiz.
One other thing .... watch out for "near answers" or where there might be two different correct answers. These can cause endless squabbling, especially if alcohol has been consumed :rotfl:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
to avoid squabbwing, make sure everyone knows that "The judge's decision is final".for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.

yes, I realise I may appear cold and heartless a lot of the time.0
