What is the difference between 1st gen and 2nd gen ipod nanos??

I am still on the hunt for a 2GB ipod nano BLACK for my brother and Apple do not seem to make the 2nd gen 2GB NANO in BLACK. However I have seen a 2GB ipod NANO black from the apple refurb store for 65quid in black but it is 1st generation NANO. So what is the difference between 1st and 2nd generation?

2nd one has harder casing, better battery life, brighter screen, rounded edges and finally the 2nd gen has more colours (silver, blue, green etc)

the black colour on the 2nd gen nano is exclusive to the 8gb version

I have received a IPod Nano 2 GB Silver as a gift. How do I find if it is a 1st Gen or 2nd Gen. Model number is A1199 and Part Number is MA477ZT/A. The pack looks like similar to one in Apple Store website (http://a248.e.akamai.net/7/248/8352/808/store.apple.com/Catalog/uk/Images/ipodnano/overview-requirements.jpg).

Any one has picture of the 1st Gen Nano package.

Look here. Yours will be second gen - first gen only came in black or white.

Thanks. I looked at the page, it confirm it is a 2nd Generation. :-)
