I am currently on a Money Week free trial and daily emails. You have to take a lot of what they say with a large pinch of salt. In particular their penny stocks sales patter is dreadful and very damaging to their reputation in my view.
On the other hand there have been some good ideas in their magazines a few of which I have invested in as a result.
I don't know anything about Investors Chronicle other visiting their web site briefly a couple of times. However there is something about it which I find off putting. Not the content, I just find the layout antiquated and unfriendly. That's just me though.0 -

Here's my two pence worth - I have subscribed to both magazines - Moneyweek - ignoring the penny shares and other distractions- is a good read, compact, concise, easily understood.
IC - tremendous amount of information, toomuch to digest every week - information is very good - but Iwas never able to read it all before the next issue arrived.
Would I subscribe to either again - no.
Why not - there's enough on theweb, and in thhe broadsheets to satisfy my finance needs - I may buy the odd issue if it had anything I was specifically intersted in.
Hope that helps

If only those who had subscribed to both were allowed to answer they might not have got any responses at all.0 -

They're two quite different magazines. Money Week is essentially a digest of the week's financial pages, with a perma-bear editorial outlook. It is more " newsy " than the IC, which is more oriented towards individual companies.
FWIW I found the IC a bit of a slog after a few years and didn't renew my subscription but I still get Money Week.
They both offer free trials - MW here and IC here.0 -
Snarky. I have had 4 issues of Money Week now - enough time to form an opinion. With Investors Chronicle I restricted my views to the web site as that is all I had looked at, and said so.

Nuff said - the question was about the magazine not the web

Both are very good but it really depends what you are looking for.
Money Week offers more of a global view and is less focused upon individual stock selections than Investors Chronicle. Although MW does offer stock suggestions, these tend to be in the context of articles about specific sectors or regions.
IC tends to focus upon UK equities and funds, covering many more individual companies than MW and offering a greater degree of fundamental analysis. If you're interested in investing in UK equities only, particularly smaller cap companies, then IC is definitely better in my opinion.
Hope the above helps.0 -
I get both and 'Shares' magazine. Shares and IC are quite similar in their layout. IC probably have a snapshot over a larger number of shares with a little less information. It's also slightly more businesslike. However i prefer shares mag overall, it's more user friendly so to speak.
Between those and MW, MW is a more generalistic magazine about the economy and will have less focus on indivdual shares.
My advice is to buy a copy of all 3 over 2-3 weeks and see which you prefer before you go for a subscription0 -
I've recently had both and found IC a better read, I don't currently subscribe to either as I've been trying to cut back on my magazine costs.
I found MoneyWeek to be a good read at first but after a few months I got fed up with the constant negativity that passes for editorial comment etc, I also found the constant stream of sales messages a real nuisance and ran contrary to the magazines usual slant of a market crash (they must get it right one day!)
IC on the other hand was much more interesting for me, I enjoyed the portfolio assessments and regular columnists. For me IC seemed much more geared to the diy investor and whilst I didn't read all of the share tips, it would be the one 'out-of-the-two' that I would subscribe to again.
