OP, for what reason are you resigning?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • If you have 16K in savings, why the !!!! are you wanting to claim JSA?

Or is the tax payer not burdened enough as it is for you?

The OP didn't ask for your opinion on whether he was a 'burden to the taxpayer' or not.

If he has paid enough contributions and can claim it then he should claim it.

Well I've been working in computing for 12 years, and just had enough, never been happy, has affected me as a person being couped up in an office all day in front of a PC. Took me long enough to realise, but need to switch to something else, regardless of what the job market is like at the mo. I've been studying for the past 6 months for a teaching English certificate and am going to use that to find work, then eventually move into proper teaching...

16K in savings, i wouldn't tell them that or they probably wont give you anything, good luck anyway.:)

On contribution based dont matter if you got a million in the bank you can still claim and get it i had over 16k in the bank and i got it.

Only Income based which is means tested do they sanction you for money in the bank. Plus not telling them is committing fraud and they always find out so best policy is be honest.

Good on you for making a change, but you will not qualify for JSA on that reasoning. Would it be possible to jobsearch whilst still working, or go part time in your current work whilst looking for something else?

I'm quitting my job at the end of the month, voluntarily, because I've had enough. I've got over 16k savings. Are there any benefits I can claim, or can I claim JSA?

    Thanks.

You can try claim. Your advisor will ask you to write down why you quit, then you'll get a letter from the claims department asking for more detail, such as:

    Did your duties change
Did the job differ from the original spec
Did anyone complain about your standard of work
Did you receive any warnings about your standard of work
Did you feel your health was affected by the job
    Did you consult a doctor
Did you make efforts to secure alternative employment

They will ask for dates / names, and likely check this information with your previous employer.
  • im signing on then got a job
i quit my job on the first day and didnt sign off or tell them about it.
the noise was too loud and the didnt have the right equipment ready.

Now the company want to pay me for the one day, but if i accept will the job center find out i quit the job? maybe they will see it in my tax somehow?

If they pay you then take that payslip into the jobcentre and tell them about it. If you don't and they find out about it then they could bar you from claiming for up to 3 years!

The reasons for quitting however seem reasonable so shouldn't cause a problem with continuing to claim.
  • well they had ordered the computer and it was to arrive in 3-5 days
and they put me in the factory office where the noise was so loud.

I might just turn down the money then they will never know.
    it will be about 50£

    what u think guys?

I think that you should live on your 16k until you find work and save yourself the stress of the job centre. The savings can be replaced when you find work it is up to you if I was in your shoes thats what I would do.
