ladys mile is excellent for kids, nice adventure playground, rope slides, 2 swimming pools with water slides and first class life guards, chip shop, amusements, supermarket, club with entertainment and its in walking distance of the beach at Dawlish warren which is a lifeguard beach and Dawlish town is just lovely.
The wardens keep an eye on the kids.
Now, if you want a holiday where there is "plenty to do" on site this is for you. the site is pointed towards kids having fun and can be a bit noisy, but thats why many go, to have fun
If you want peace and quiet, the across the road is Leadstone camping, which is basically 3 expensive fields, well kept with one small long queue shower block and damned expensive for very little, The staff at leadstone spend most of the time telling the kids off for having nothing to do and constantly complaining to parents for their children acting like children .
    On Dawlish
I would chose on the basis:
Family fun and a rest from the kids as they are never in = Ladys mile
Sit in a well kept field like statues + leadstone camping
Decide are you taking the Kids on holiday, or yourself ?

    HI

i would second BroadWay house near Cheddar - they have an outdoor pool, a skatepark (which is located near one of the tent areas- we camped just by the skatepark and my would have been on their scooters 24 hours a day if we had let them),

plus a bmx track - which looked a bit too serious for my 5 and 6 year old - but great for older kids..

plus a fantastic adventure playground, and a toddler playground...

We would go back here -it was not cheap but the kids loved it.

there was a bar with entertainment, but we never went to it - we were a party of 20 and so just met up outside the tents each night for a bbq, one of our party's tent overlooked the adventure playground, ours the skatepark, and another the toddler play area so we just rotated our evening bbq so we could watch the kids whilst we chatted.
