I don't know much about batteries except that every phone battery I've ever had as said that the first charge needs to be 16 hours or so regardless of whether or not it says 'completed', then after that it doesn't matter.
My latest phone is a motorola and its about 7 weeks old and the instructions with that still said phone battery needed charging 16 hours before first use.
I always do it for first charges and I've often wondered why

weird that cos it doesnt say in any of my nokia manuals to charge them for 15 hrs.the guy has replied saying that all phones/batteries have to be charged for 15 hrs but if it doesnt say anywhere to do so then how would one be expected to know and how do they keep charging when the phone indicates it has stopped charging?0

I am not a phone expert but I have always understood that when you have a new phone / battery you have to leave it on charge for hooouuurs.. like 16 - 24.
You can use it in the meantime as long as you are still plugged in and charging (not very mobile obviously) but it is only when you are starting it up.
Someone told me the other day that these rechargeable batteries have a memory, and if you charge them for a short period of time or when they are only partially run down they remember that and think they are expiring!
I tried it on my own phone, and I have to say I think it does work. The longer I leave before recharigng, the longer the recharge lasts.:T0 -
cheers.been using rechargeable batteries for yrs and yes one does charge/recharge them for a long time ( unless you have a fast charger that is!) strange how i've never heard of doing the same with mobiles.must've been lucky with all my other batteries cos they only ever got charged a few hrs.thanx for all the advice0
