Caps and Fixes normally appear at the end of the listings, or on a separate tab (that's how it works on energyhelpline anyway).
If you are on BG Standard, then you are on the most expensive tariff, anything else will be cheaper than that.No free lunch, and no free laptop

That is incorrect, as you pay a premium on top of the standard rate in order to fix or cap. so you will find that fixes or caps will be more expensive.
EDIT: if you switch supplier, you may find a cap cheaper than BG's standard rates. But all companies capped or fixed tariffs are more expensive than there OWN standard rated. Excluding Scottish power as they just put their standard rate up and are yet to replace their cheaper capped tariff with the new more expensive one.0 -

I was referring to variable tariffs when I said that Standard was the most expensive. Caps or fixes are usually more, but not always. Check EDF Standard against EDF Fixed Saver v2 for example. Obviously these products will be pulled fairly soon now.No free lunch, and no free laptop

When I've checked on various comparison sites, there has been a large range of prices. Some standard tariffs actually cost more than some fixed ones. My fixed tariff with OVO was almost the cheapest option of the lot at the time I signed up, it was only estimated at about £40 a year more than the cheapest, which was a variable one.0 -

Once you have your kWh figures, using a comp site takes less than a minute, so you'll have to do something else while you finish the bottle. No free lunch, and no free laptop
