Get an ipod if that is what he wants.

Fact is he will fill it. He does not want 120 songs. Do get a shuffle. You cannot see what track is playing. Shuffles are very poor items.

I have had mine for 4 years and will replace with top of line 80 gig version.

I have loads of audio books and the pod direct wired to the car and would never use anything else.

Work out how much you want to spend and match the pod to your spend not the other way round.

My daughter and step-daughter #2 both had gen 1 Shuffles but both have died (washing machine killed one; water slide at Alton towers killed the other :D ); daughter is getting a gen 2 Shuffle for Christmas. Shuffles are great for what they are but don't use Fairy non-bio!

... but; step-daughter #1 is getting a Sandisk Sansa 4gb E260. She would have got a 2gb Nano but by the time she decided they were pretty much sold out at the places you could get them with a good discount. The 4gb E260 is going to cost £93ish which is the same price a 2gb 2nd gen Nano would have cost. PLUS the Sandisks have a transflash slot so twice the memory + expansion possiblities for the same price.

The ipods are great, don't get me wrong - I have a 20gb Gen 3 (£60 from refurb shop :D ) but you really, really pay through the nose for the brand name and the itunes software is poop.

I have a Sony NW-HD3 it holds 13000 songs.Excellent player,If you see the NW-HD1 for sale cheap,it is the same as the HD-3 ,because the Sonic stage software you have to download makes it the same.
I have a ipod as well, but never use itunes, i use xplay to drop songs into the ipod.easier to do than itunes.and if i plug in my friends ipod to my computer, she can have all my songs as well, saves her downloading her own cds to her computer,as she has the same cds as i have .
