I may be missing something but the impression I get from the "spec" is that Windows is not supplied - they recommend it but don't say it is included. Instead they waffle on about Linux so I'm guessing you'll have to pay extra for Windows if that's what you want.

Also they don't mention screen resolution.
Also they don't say how many USB ports there are.
Also they don't mention whether a Firewire port is included.
Also they don't mention whether there is a PC card slot or PC-Express slot.
Also they don't say what software is included (e.g. DVD burning).
Also they don't mention battery life or battery capacity.
Also they do not explicitly state the processor. You might infer from the model name that it is an AMD Turion MT34 but there is no promise that that is what is in the machine.

All in all I think the lack of information is a cause for concern. I suggest care when considering whether or not this is a bargain!
  • Is it me or is everyone becoming very cynical. If you look a little further I think this becomes even more of a bargain and if it wasn't for the fact I don't need a new laptop, I'd seriously consider it.

It comes installed with Windows, Nero & AOL (according to Lidl website) and additional software (according to Targa website) see here for more data including confirmation that screen resolution is 1440x900, 4 USB 2.0 ports, 1 firewire port....

OK, apologies for raising doubts. I am unable to view the offer on the LIDL website due to my post code and from the first link to the "specs" there was a lot of information missing. I did not spot the link to the Datasheet on that first page. Now I see that all the points I raised have been answered on the Datasheet page.

Doing a quick comparison with my usual yardstick - Dell - it is clear that this laptop is very well specified for the price :)
  • The leaflet also states:- optical mouse, modem adaptor, scart cable ,headset with microphone instructions and much more.also a 5 in 1 card reader if not mentioned before. It also has 3 yrs warranty. The specs :- amd turion 64 mt34 1.8 ghz ,ati radeon x200 graphics chip 128 mb,lg dvd/cd burner, toshiba 100 gb hard drive.

If only. Virtually everyone has to the pay the Windows Tax. On my next computer I will apply for a refund from Micro$oft.

Thanks dameon,I thought it seemed a good deal especially with all that comes with it inc a case !
    Don't be fooled - a case isn't worth more than £10 - 2% of the value.

I'm certainly not saying the whole package isn't good value though.
