Want to travel train in Austria & accommodation

Hi. We would like to travel by train in Austria in January and also find a good deal on accommodation for a weeks skiing.
Does anyone know any good starting points/websites etc for arranging such things. I suspect it could be quite pricey to just turn up and try to find a hotel room or apartment.
Thanks.
Rob

Hello kalico
Your thread will be better placed in the 'Travel, Trips & Holidays' board, so I'll move it across for you.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

The German railways web site is excellent for train times in the whole of Europe including the UK.

The man in seat 61

is excellent for info on foreign railway travel and I believe will answer specific questions. Beware, his site is very inspiring - before you know it you will be wanting to travel overland to Istanbul or Morocco!0 -
