Olympics tickets

Olympics tickets - Like so many, we missed out on getting tickets.

It is galling to see that mainland Europe has had tickets that we could have bought online had someone in the London team thought a little more of us, the taxpayers, and pointed us in that direction. I feel that we the British have been led by the nose into a ballot system that could never have satisfied the demand. Abroad, apparently, they could pick their actual tickets. Imagine the luxury of that. For people whose taxes have not even funded it. We have been treated in a miserable way.

So here we are. The French site has a deadline that we’ve missed. I feel like a Jonny come lately onto this field and I could scream at the selfishness of the committee who did not open up communication of the fact that we could have gone elsewhere for tickets.

So now, looking forward. Is there anyone who knows the way to get decent tickets from a source that is trustworthy.

Sorry if this sounds uptight but it reflects how I feel. The disappointment is huge. As are the taxes paid towards this. Isn’t Cameron’s mantra that you get back what you’ve put in. Well now it’s time to make that come true. As he won’t, can MSE help at all?

I think this is going to go nowhere, so sorry for the rant, and my sympathies to all of you in the same boat.

PS There might be a role for a new subsection called Olympics as I think there'll be a few posts coming over the coming year.

Your best bet might be to hold on for the resale website to be launched next year?
There are bound to be people who applied for far too many tickets and will be looking to recoup some money.

Forgive me for not being specific enough.

It is the combined knowledge of those on this forum that might come up with a solution. For example, someone might know of an obscure country's official site that has tickets left. Where it is not too late to register.

If you have any information like that to offer, I am sure that would make a useful post.

Thanks, and you are absolutely right. I suppose my thoughts are that it will be the seats no one else wants that are given up. The good ones will be passed to friends and family first.

It is the knowledge that good seats were available if only we had been given the information in time. It's the newspapers that have brought home the info about other countries' allocations and that they could have been bought by us, if we had not been deliberately kept in the dark.

I quote this from a newspaper, "Eventeam marketing director Benoit Vincent has done a bit of a Basil Fawlty-style sales pitch to drum-up your interest. He said: ”We can sell to anybody interested in Britain but we are not allowed to communicate about it.”

There was a thing on the moneybox programme about legit sellers in Germany.

To go with your moan about them being for sale in other countries - we have to do this as part of the arrangement of getting the Olympics in this country - other countries get a quota to sell too.

Ill see if i can find you the link

I was similarly disappointed and managed to buy some Handball tickets off the German site http://www.dertour.de ... not sure what they'll have left now, but Handball tickets will at least get me into Olympic Park during the games, if it's anything like the Beijing Games Olympic Park will be an impregnable fortress without a ticket!

I think we'll get a much better view on the telly and as I travel through Stratford twice a day to and fronm work, I've seen the Olympic site being built so there's not much mystery there.

We're going to try for Paralympic tickets.

not the best piece of journalism, talks round in circles a bit at the beginning rather than making it clear but there is hope... sorry this site won't let me post a link, but go to the bbc news site and do a search for:
