good way of getting more cash for old Cd's. DVDs, Blu-rays and games

Recently i've been having a sort out and had loads of cd's, dvds and PS2 games i wanted to get rid of.
i used to do a lot of selling on ebay and these sort of things are not worth listing and selling... some of the cd's people were selling for pence and having no bids.... you only get money for rare or sought after items with ebay

i considered using cash converters / generator but you don't get much.... also i looked at music magpie as they do take a lot of stuff but you don't get that good prices and also if your item doesn't pass there quality test they keep it and don't send it back / pay you for it.

thought i'd pop on here and help anyone who wants to get rid of there old stuff.... theres a shop called computer exchange (CEX) who buy and trade games, Cd's, DVD's, electrical, games consoles, phones etc etc.... i can't believe how resonable there prices are that they buy stuff.... out of all the items i have to get rid of comparing CEX online with music magpie i'd get a better deal on about 80% of my items.... music magpie give you about 30p average for a DVD and CD but Cex have been giving me double or more for the same things. also with cex you just go instore and get the cash there and then (best to go early in the morning).... also they give you good deals on trading in.... i took 18 Cd's in today and got £13.60 cash or i could have had £23 exchange.... the same Cd's with music magpie i would have had less than £10 plus i'd have to post the cd's off and wait 2 weeks for a cheque and then have to pay that into a band and clear.

hope this may help some of you get a few more quid from your unwated bits n bobs :T

im not being funny, but this thread sound a little spammy to me, i may be wrong but do you work for CEX?

but on that note, i do find CEX very competative when im trading in my old games etc, i have never sold CDs, DVDs etc but i can say the games are good value when trading selling. i would still shop around though.

nope... don't work for computer exchange.... and i dont spam

i've just done a lot of looking around and pricing up and found that they seem to have the best deal for cash 80% of the time... just thought i'd share the love if people wanted to have options... i didn't even know they bought Cd's and DVd's till my friend told me.

Thanks Teflon_mike- I'm a big fan of CEX for buying things, but have never sold to them before. I'm going to be moving soon and have more CDs than I can possibly bring with me, and most of them not worth ebaying, so this might be a good option- though I'd probably end up part-exchanging them for more stuff!

no probs mate.... the other thing you have to watch is i think they have a budget each day to how much cash they give out... i took some stuff at 3pm one day and it was trade only... i usually take 20 at a time as have to catch the bus... also you can check online how much they give you cash and trade.... i've still got about 40 cd's and 50 dvd's to take the next time i'm in town.

Don't forget a lot of people don't have a CEX store near them so their only option is to post the items off, and the customer foots the postage cost.

This isn't the case with Magpie, as their service is freepost.

there is that i suppose.... i'm lucky though as have 3 cex stores within 6 miles of where i live :D

Seen too many complaints about CEX, Sending cheque's that would not clear. Buyers turning up to collect
    stuff that was not there.

Many years ago i used them to upgrade computer parts, Prices are just not competetive anymore for me.

Sometimes they appear to offer more for a game than other game stores sell them for, I don't think that is
    very good business practice.

Too many doubts to make them worth the effort now.
