Hi, I am relatively new to the scene and would really appreciate your help.
My name is Katie Clifford, my daughter Sadie, last October aged just 14 months old was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer, neuroblastoma. Sadie Rose had been a healthy happy little girl until October so it was a massive shock to the family to be told how serious her illness was. Neuroblastoma is the most common form of cancer in children under 5 years and has the highest mortality rate of all childhood cancers.
Sadie Rose has already undergone a 70 day course of chemotherapy at Leeds General Infirmary to shrink the tumour in her abdomen. This was followed by a 7 and a half hour operation to remove as much of the tumour as possible.
She is currently undergoing radiotherapy to try and prevent the tumour from regrowing.
The whole family has obviously been hugely affected by this terrible illness although Sadie Rose's bravery has been inspiring. We have learnt how to administer much of Sadie's medication at home to try and minimise the inevitable extensive stays in hospital.
Although the treatment is so far going well, there is an 80% chance that the cancer will return in the next few years. If it does return, it will be more aggressive and there is currently no treatment protocol for the illness in the UK. Sadie Rose would need to travel to Germany or the US for life-saving treatment which could cost up to £300,000. Because of the aggressive nature of the cancer, if Sadie Rose does relapse, we need to be in a position to go abroad for treatment immediately and are therefore raising money now so that we are in a position to give Sadie Rose this chance of life if a relapse occurs.
If Sadie Rose is only of the very lucky 20% who reach the age of 5 without a relapse, the chances of the cancer returning are minimal and the funds raised would be legally transferred to another family who are in need of similar treatment.
A charity has been set up in Sadie Rose's name (charity number 1135974) for which donations can be made. If would be able to donate to this cause that is very close to our hearts, we would be very grateful.
Thankyou for any advice
Katie

I wish you all the best for Rosies treatment.
Just as another thought, and maybe to cheer sadie up whilst she has her treatment, have you thought of trying to nominate her to join post pals. They are charity set up to put a smile on the face of poorly children and their families. Have a look at their site here http://www.postpals.co.uk/ans.php?id=18
I think Vicki, who set the site sometimes posts on here, depending on how she is as well. Good luck with the fundraising too.
Edit So sorry, I misread your post I thought she was 14 not 14 months. Bit too young to join.
I wish you lots of luck with everything you are going to do to fundraise (maybe put a link in your post to a page where people can donate directly). I'm sure as well people on here will have lots of cheap ideas and suggestions of ways you can raise money.0 -
Hiya, i'm the vikki mr knight mentioned (thanks Mr knight). Are you in touch with FAN (Families against neuroblastoma)? They help launch appeals for kids to go to germany for treatment but also do days out and other support as well as putting families in touch with each other. I hope you manage to raise the funds without too much stressBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card
Rehome an unwanted prize or gift with a seriously ill child through Postpals.co.uk0 -
Thats above the average amount for treatment abroad. Usually with children people are generous on here so I recommend you start an online fundraising (JustGiving is good) and put the link on here, people will donate. Also maybe you should start a website to keep track of your progress and go to events etc. There was a little girl who was ill and needed treatment to China and they went to the bouncing castle events and got the company to donate. The website is www.giveamysight.org.uk for fundraising ideas. I think you should build up a fund in case..New year, new comper here!
