Would a downstairs bathroom be a no deal for you?

I'm a FTB and have found a property of RM that looks nice enough in the pics, write up etc, except for the fact that it has a downstairs bathroom.
General layout is Front door in to porch, in to lounge, in to kitchen, in to bathroom, then back door to garden.
Stairs from lounge to 2 bedrooms upstairs, one 13' x 10 and the other 10 x 7, so not masses of scope to be "stealing" space from one of those to do something upstairs instead.
I know it's a personal choice, but am just wondering how much of a deal breaker it is for people, as this isn't meant to be a house for life, more like a starting point, although who knows what the future holds . . .

We had a downstairs bathroom when I was growing so something I'm used to but I wouldn't want it in my forever house.. but if its just somewhere you plan on staying in the short term I could probably put up with it... just a pain if you need a night time visit..lol#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

It would possibly be a deal breaker for me but then we're expecting our first baby and think it would be easier to have a downstairs toilet but upstairs bathroom. There are a few houses round here that have that set up & although we haven't discounted them completely, they are way way down on our list of 'compromise' houses.
If you don't have any specific reason to discount it, then it's worth a look I think.

I bought a terrace house 8 years ago and it was a no go area for me as I had a 4 year old. I didnt want him to have to do the trek downstairs if he needed the loo in the night. My sisters house has a downstairs bathroom and they are a family of 4 (children 11 and 8) and its not an issue with them.0

i love my downstairs bathroom, although i do now have a second one upstairs....its easy for us when kids were small as hubby can get up shower etc without disturbing anyone sleeping upstairs as he leaves for work early .5 kids..1 hubby...1 dog..3 rabbits and a goldfish...yep ours is a Madhouse

we used to have a downstairs bathroom & our bedroom was a loft conversion, so a long way to go for a wee in the middle of the night.
However we knew we would move at some point & it was no big deal. Now we have children I would not be so keen.0 -
Dealbreaker for me as well. When you come to sell its much harder to do so with a downstairs bathroom.0

Grew up with one - doesn't bother me at all
I'd swap you my current flat - the bathroom is en-suite off the bedroom. Such a stupid design; can't have people to visit unless you want them traiping through the room for a wee and I can't go to bed early as OH will always wake me up when he brushes his teeth

it definitely is not preferable for me, especially if it is directly off the kitchen. I did have a house with just a downstairs bathroom at one time though, but I overcame it as it was a tardis of a house with two downstairs bedrooms as well and also there was plenty of space to put an en suite in - with a 20' bedroom. (In the end we never got around to that anyway).0

I grew up with one and it wasn't really a problem but I was never that keen on it and hated going downstairs in the night. My brother lives on the same road now and has 3 kids, and it isn't a problem for them, but I'm afraid it would be a dealbreaker for me, as well as being harder to sell later on.2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

I would only have a downstairs bathroom if there was an upstairs bath or shower room as well. I hate the idea of myself and guests having to walk to the other side of the house for a shower/bath!0
